It is also accessible by direct flight from Zanzibar to airstrips near Mikumi National Park, allowing travelers to combine a beach holiday with a quick and exciting safari experience in the African wilderness.

Best Time to Visit Mikumi National Park

The best time to visit Mikumi National Park is during the dry season from June to October, when wildlife viewing is at its peak. During this period, animals such as lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and hippos gather around water sources, making them easier to spot during game drives across the open savannah.

The green season from November to May is also a great time to visit, especially for bird lovers, as the park becomes lush and green with over 400 bird species. Although wildlife can be slightly harder to spot due to tall grass, this season offers fewer crowds, beautiful landscapes, and more affordable safari prices, making it ideal for a peaceful Tanzania safari experience.
