Marangu route trekking - Mount Kilimanjaro

Trekking

Overview of Marangu Route Trekking

The Marangu Route, often referred to as the "Coca-Cola Route," is one of the most popular and established paths to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the only route that offers hut accommodation instead of camping, making it a preferred choice for trekkers seeking more comfort during their climb.

This route approaches the mountain from the southeast and follows a well-defined trail through rainforests, moorlands, and alpine desert to the summit. While it is considered one of the easier routes in terms of terrain, the shorter acclimatization period can affect summit success rates.

The Marangu Route typically takes 5 to 6 days but sometimes may take up to 8 days according to our tourists' request to complete and is ideal for those looking for a shorter trek with basic sleeping shelters. It also allows for a quick descent via the same path, making logistics simpler and the journey more straightforward.
