Embark on a unique 3-day journey that begins in the historic town of Bagamoyo and leads you to the only wildlife park in East Africa with an Indian Ocean beachfront—Saadani National Park.
Saadani is a place like no other. It offers the rare experience of watching elephants, giraffes, and even lions roam freely against a backdrop of white sandy beaches and swaying palm trees. The park is an ecological melting pot—combining coastal forest, salt flats, mangroves, savannah, and marine ecosystems in one landscape.
Start your trip with a cultural immersion in Bagamoyo, once a vibrant trade port and the first German colonial capital in East Africa. Explore the narrow streets, ancient ruins, and colorful markets before heading north toward the wilder corners of the Tanzanian coast.
Over three days, you'll enjoy classic game drives, relax along untouched beaches, and take an optional boat safari on the Wami River—famous for its crocodiles, hippos, and dazzling birdlife. It’s a perfect escape for travelers seeking a less-crowded, off-the-beaten-path safari that blends wildlife, water, and culture.
Your journey begins in the coastal town of Bagamoyo, a place filled with history, culture, and charm. Take a morning walking tour through the old town, visit the Catholic Mission, and stop by the ancient slave market ruins and local art studios.
After lunch in town, drive north along the scenic Indian Ocean coast toward Saadani National Park. Arrive at your beachfront lodge in time for sunset and a freshly cooked seafood dinner. Fall asleep to the sound of waves and wildlife.
Wake up in the wild and enjoy a hearty breakfast before setting off on a game drive across Saadani’s diverse landscapes. Look out for buffalo, elephants, warthogs, lions, giraffes, reedbucks, and even hyenas as you explore this unique ecosystem.
In the afternoon, choose to relax on the beach, swim in the ocean, or take an optional boat safari on the Wami River—a haven for birders and nature lovers. Return to the lodge for a beach bonfire and stargazing.
Start the morning with a peaceful guided nature walk or beach stroll. After breakfast, begin your drive back to Bagamoyo or continue onward to Dar es Salaam, depending on your travel plans.
End of safari. You’ll leave refreshed, reconnected with nature, and carrying the rare memory of lions near the sea.
